Legacy Member: Sally Gates

As we continue our celebration of our 50th anniversary and our longtime supporters, here’s a look back at Legacy Member Sally Gates’ memories of the Georgia Trust’s early years:

“I was around when the Georgia Trust started and was the first one to hand Bill Griffin a membership check after they announced the formation of the Trust. I was asked to be on a committee of “Young Preservationists” that Mary Jewett started, and I remember going to the organizing meeting at Jane Symmes’ house and sitting in chairs in a circle in the backyard. I was also on an early committee to select the statewide Restoration Awards in 1981.”

Legacy Members are Georgia Trust Members who have supported the Trust for 10+ years.
