With the help of the Georgia Trust, 2023 J. Neel Reid scholar Matt Schaefer, embarked on a journey to study Frederick Law Olmsted’s work, his place in the history of landscape design, and how his design techniques can be used to prioritize nature in an increasingly urbanized future. The study took Matt to cities including Boston, Massachusetts; Liverpool, England; and Luxembourg, Luxembourg. During the lecture, Matt will share lessons learned on his travels and studying plans from Olmsted’s digital archives.
