Join us in celebration of Black History Month with an exclusive guided tour of the Herndon Home Museum. Located in Atlanta, the Herndon Home is a National Historic Landmark that preserves the life and legacy of Alonzo F. Herndon. Born into slavery, Herndon rose to become one of the city’s most prominent Black business leaders and the founder of the Atlanta Life Insurance Company.

Constructed in 1910, the elegant Beaux-Arts Classical Revival residence reflects Herndon’s remarkable achievements as founder of the Atlanta Life Insurance Company and as a leading figure in Atlanta’s Black business community. Today, the museum interprets the Herndon family’s story through original furnishings, artifacts, and personal narratives that illuminate their social, economic and cultural impact.
