2 p.m.
Join The Georgia Trust on a special pre-Ramble excursion to nearby Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park, an essential stop on any visit to Marietta. Spanning nearly 3,000 acres, it is one of the largest preserved green spaces in the metro Atlanta area. The park not only protects a key Civil War battleground from the Atlanta Campaign but also reflects a rich cultural history, having been inhabited by Native Americans in the 1800s and later serving as the site of Camp Brumby, a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp in the 1930s.
The visit begins at the Park Visitor Center and Museum, followed by a 1.3-mile ranger-led hike around the base of the mountain. Along the way, participants will see well-preserved earthworks, a monument, and significant features of the battle. The trail includes minor elevation changes. Attendees should wear appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.
A $5 parking fee per vehicle applies.
