Tony Long

Macon, Bibb County

Tony Long lives in Macon and for decades has been a leader of preservation in Georgia. He grew up in a time when people in the building trades were considered craftsmen and he always sought to learn as much as possible from the older workers and family members he worked with. He has a keen eye for understanding and replicating traditional building techniques and improving when he has to. With his painting company, A.T. Long & Son Painting Contractors, he painted the Hay House in 2012 and has worked on many other historic properties over the years. Tony has also invested in historic properties in downtown Macon, prior to its revitalization. As a former president of the Historic Macon Foundation, he worked to strengthen the organization and engaged members. Tony has worked throughout the state of Georgia but mostly in Macon, and in fact, he has been involved with a majority of the past Georgia Trust award winning projects from Macon.
