Know A Historic Endangered Site? Nominate it by September 1!
Historic properties are selected for listing based on several criteria:
- Sites must be listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places or the Georgia Register of Historic Places.
- Sites must be subject to a serious threat to their existence or historical, architectural and/or archeological integrity.
- There should be community support for the preservation of listed sites.
The Places in Peril list is announced annually in the first part of the year. Nominations are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year however for consideration in next year’s list, nominations must be made by September 1st.
