Neel Reid Prize Panel Discussion: Reflections on Travel, Practice, and Influence

Join the Georgia Trust this Preservation Month for a special evening at Rhodes Hall celebrating the impact of the J. Neel Reid Prize. This year’s program brings together past award winners for a dynamic panel discussion reflecting on how the Prize has shaped their professional paths and design perspectives.
Panelists include Michael Kleeman (2002 recipient), Professor and Department Chair of Interior Design and Assistant Dean at Brenau University; Clay Rokicki (2010 recipient), Principal at Historical Concepts; and Blake Segars (2011 recipient), Principal & Chief Architect at T. Blake Segars Architecture. Each pursued intensive study travel focused on classical architecture and design. Kleeman’s research examined the influence of Sebastiano Serlio on late Renaissance and Mannerist architects in Italy, while Rokicki and Segars both studied traditional architecture in England—Rokicki focusing broadly on English architectural traditions and Segars on the work of Sir Edwin Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll .
Through a moderated conversation, the panel will revisit their study experiences while focusing on how those formative travels continue to inform their current work and careers in architecture and design.
The event will kick off with a brief reception with beer and wine at 7 p.m. and the panel discussion will begin at 7:30 p.m.
