Inherit Georgia South Downtown Walking Tour & Hard Hat Tour of Rich’s Building
Thursday, May 14 @ 6-8 p.m.
Meeting Point
235 Mitchell St SW
Atlanta GA, 30303
(Next to Spiller Park Coffee)
You know its past, now see its future. Students and young professionals, 45 and under, are invited to join us to see the ongoing revitalization of Atlanta’s Whitehall Shopping District and surrounding streets.
We will share stories of the neighborhood’s rich history and explore the businesses that flourished and stumbled throughout the 20th century. The tour will last approximately two hours, during which we will discuss the buildings and people who left their mark on the neighborhood. This will be followed by a hard hat tour of the 1882 Rich’s building at 82 Peachtree.
The walk will conclude at 170 Mitchell Street, where we will meet with April Stammel of the South Downtown team to discuss the project’s successes and challenges.
Know Before You Go
Closed-toed shoes are required for the construction site tour; anyone without them unfortunately cannot participate. The ground is uneven due to multiple types of flooring throughout the site so flat, comfortable shoes are best. Additionally, all participants will need to sign a release waiver before the tour begins.
