Heritage Reception

A Complimentary Event for Upper Level Georgia Trust Members ($300+)
Saturday, October 11

Upper-level Georgia Trust members ($300+) are invited to an exclusive reception at Powell Hall, located on the beautiful campus of Valdosta State University. Originally built in 1940 through the Works Progress Administration as the campus library, Powell Hall was formally dedicated by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt in 1941. A recent rehabilitation transformed the building into a state-of-the-art music facility, featuring a 200-seat recital hall and multiple practice rooms, while preserving its historic architectural elements. This transformation earned the 2022 Excellence in Rehabilitation Award from The Georgia Trust, recognizing the project’s commitment to maintaining the building’s historic integrity while adapting it for modern use.

What are Rambles?

Rambles feature exclusive tours and social events in historic properties not usually open to the public. Tours of historic homes and buildings are self-guided, and guests provide their own transportation. Maps and programs are provided at packet pick-up. Catered meals are offered as part of registration packages; however, there are tour-only (no meals) options as well.

These trips attract hundreds of participants per Ramble and are offered two weekends each year (fall and spring). Recent Rambles have included Augusta, Madison and the Golden Isles.
