ATLANTA, Feb. 8, 2011— The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation will hold its 27th annual Preservation Gala, A Neoclassical Caper, at Spotswood Hall in Atlanta on Friday, March 18, 2011, 7:30 p.m.
The annual gala will feature cocktails, live entertainment, dancing and Mediterranean culinary delights prepared by Atlanta’s premier caterers.
Join the Trust for an evening of Grecian fun and frolic while exploring and enjoying Spotswood Hall, one of Atlanta’s most beautiful architectural treasures. Event chairs Georgia Schley Ritchie and Florence Callaway Holmes promise a night to remember, with dining and dancing under the stars. Honorary chairs are Janice Biggers, Dexter Jordan, Jr., Clason Kyle and Edward Neal, who are all from Columbus, Georgia and are long-standing supporters of The Georgia Trust.
While at the Gala guests will have the opportunity to explore and enjoy Spotswood Hall, which was designed by A. Ten Eyck Brown and completed in 1913, and sits grandly on the highest point in Atlanta. Philip Trammell Shutze remodeled the interior and rear exterior of the home in 1933 in a manner reflecting his transition toward the Regency style. The interior boasts a rotunda with Athos Menaboni murals and a grand curved staircase.
Tickets are $125 for members; $150 for non-members (includes membership to the Trust); $100 for guests under 40. To purchase tickets, visit www.GeorgiaTrust.org or call 404-885-7812. All proceeds benefit The Georgia Trust.
