Haistens Hospital Building
Constructed in 1910, this building replaced an earlier hospital that was located in a home that was demolished to allow for the construction of the Griffin City Hall building. Harralson Bleckley, architect of the historic Griffin City Hall, donated his plans for the new hospital on Meriwether Street to help mitigate the loss of the old hospital. At the time of construction, the building was worth an estimated $25,000 but was built for $15,000, thanks to reuse of materials and generous donations. The building also served as a nurses' dormitory and personal care facility.

The Haistens Hospital building was listed as a Place in Peril in 2015 by The Georgia Trust. In May 2015 local groups partnered with Home Depot on a multi-day volunteer project to rehabilitate and secure the exterior of the building. Home Depot has committed to providing volunteer labor and at-cost materials necessary to work on the building's interior when a buyer is found. This building is being offered by The Georgia Trust for rehabilitation. All interested buyers must provide a viable rehabilitation/development plan.

About Griffin
The City of Griffin is located in the Atlanta Metropolitan area, just 40 miles south of Atlanta. Founded in 1840, Griffin is the county seat of Spalding County and has a population of approximately 23,500. It is home to the Southern Crescent Technical College and a branch campus of the University of Georgia.

About The Georgia Trust Revolving Fund program
The Georgia Trust is a nonprofit statewide preservation organization. The Revolving Fund program was established to provide effective alternatives to demolition or neglect of architecturally and historically significant properties by promoting their rehabilitation and monitoring their preservation in perpetuity. All properties sold through this program have conservation easements in place to ensure the historic integrity of the property is retained. Additionally, buyers are required to sign a Rehabilitation Agreement and all work done to the property must abide by the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.
