2004 PRESERVATION AWARDS: SWAN HOUSE

Located on the Atlanta History Center's grounds and designed by Atlanta architect Philip Trammel Shutze for the Inman family in 1928, the Swan House is this preeminent architect's most renowned and lasting memorial. Lord, Aeck & Sargent, Architecture was hired, along with a team of preservation experts, to determine how to address water damage, wear and tear issues and the loss of historic fabric in the bathrooms and kitchen.

Throughout the six-year restoration process, the house remained open to the public in order to educate visitors about the technical components of a historic preservation project.
