2005 PRESERVATION AWARDS: LANE-MORRISON HOUSE

Savannah's  Lane-Morrison House was originally built for banker Mills B. Lane, Sr. in 1909. The new owners restored the structure to its original grandeur (right) by correcting inappropriate additions and replacing missing elements while also creating new space to accommodate their needs.

Inside, work included restoring mantels, moldings, paneling and ceiling medallions. Additions to the house, including a kitchen (above left), rear porch and pool cabana (right), were built using compatible materials that maintained appropriate proportions.
