2005 PRESERVATION AWARDS: DANIEL FLAGG VILLAS

Built in 1912 as housing for C&S Rail Line workers, the Daniel Flagg Villas had become badly deteriorated and were slated for demolition by the city.

With the help and funds from the City of Savannah, Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the cottages were restored as housing for Union Mission's Phoenix House, a non-profit outreach and treatment facility for transient persons living with AIDS.
