2016 PRESERVATION AWARDS: MARY GREGORY JEWETT AWARD

ANTONIN AECK, FAIA
Atlanta

The Mary Gregory Jewett Award for distinguished service in the field of preservation is named for the Trust's first executive director and is the Trust's top honor given to an individual. This award is reserved to recognize those whose dedication and service to the field of historic preservation in the state of Georgia is extraordinary.

A founding principal of the renowned architecture firm Lord Aeck Sargent, Tony has been a fixture in Georgia’s design and building community for over forty years. His guidance has positioned the firm as a leader in historic preservation at the local, regional, and national levels, with preservation projects including the Georgia State Capitol, the Martin Luther King Jr. Federal Building, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Paradise Gardens, Andalusia and Hardman Farm. Mr. Aeck has given his time and talents to many organizations dedicated to preservation and design including The Georgia Trust, Atlanta Landmarks, and the Atlanta Preservation Center. He served as president of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and on the State Construction Manual Review board, helping to shape design and construction standards for Georgia’s public buildings. Elected to the AIA College of Fellows in 2001, Tony remains an active leader in his field and an indispensable advocate for preservation in Georgia and beyond.
