The History
The Fuller E. Callaway family home at Hills & Dales sits atop the highest point on the 35-acre estate. The Callaway family home was designed by the architectural firm of Hentz & Reid and was completed in 1916. This Italian villa is surrounded by rolling hills and formal boxwood gardens, known as Ferrell Gardens. In 1998, the property was bequeathed to Fuller E. Callaway Foundation with the request that it be used for the instruction and enjoyment of the visiting public. Since that time, over 50,000 visitors have toured the estate.

The Project
In 2009, Structor Group, Inc. served as the general contractor for the restoration project. Work involved sensitively installing a new digitally controlled HVAC system, incipient smoke detection, double interlock fire protection system, complete electrical rewiring, emergency lighting, security protection, lightning protection and numerous other upgrades. All of the systems were carefully integrated into the home and were designed and installed to minimize any alteration to the building’s architecture. In addition to the systems work, damaged plaster and deteriorated finishes on the second and third floor were carefully restored.
