2007 Christmas in Olde Macon

Christmas in Olde Macon is now extended! On Friday, December 7 from 5:00-9:00pm and Saturday, December 8 from 10:00am – 4:00pm, you are invited to tour all three house museums in Macon—Hay House, the Sidney Lanier Cottage House Museum, and the Cannonball House—with musical entertainment and light refreshments, all for one low price! Purchase your Around Town trolley tickets through the Macon Bibb County CVB to visit all three sites. With the partnership of NewTown Macon, complimentary trolley service is available among the three sites. Call 478-743-3401 or www.visitmacon.org. Ask for the Around Town Tour Tickets: $17/adults, $9 youth (ages 5-18).

Several Macon garden clubs will decorate the SIDNEY LANIER COTTAGE, the birthplace of the celebrated poet and musician Sidney Lanier (1842-1881), with fresh greenery and traditional 19th century decorations. Light refreshments will be served.

The halls are decked and the trees are trimmed at HAY HOUSE this magical season. Enjoy 17 rooms in the 18,000-sq.-ft. Italian Renaissance Revival mansion decorated for the holidays. The National Historic Landmark Hay House recently completed a nearly $1 million exterior restoration and will look its finest for this holiday season. Luminaries will line the sidewalk, circular front driveway and marble front steps. Refreshments will be served.
