Join The Georgia Trust on an amazing adventure to the Veneto region of Italy, September 18-24, 2016. We will explore extraordinary Palladian works of art. Andrea di Pietro della Gondola, known as Andrea Palladio, is widely regarded as the most influential architect in the history of Western architecture.

This fabulous trip was custom designed for The Georgia Trust by two of our Trustees, Carl Gable and Georgia Schley Ritchie. Carl and his wife Sally are the owners of Villa Cornaro, one of Palladio's most outstanding works where the group will enjoy a tour and catered picnic.

Tour price is $2,700 per person based on double occupancy, with a minimum of 20 paying participants. The single supplement is $595. Participation in this study tour also requires a $400 donation to The Georgia Trust. Airfare is not included. Please reserve now as spaces are limited to 30 persons.

Included in the Tour Cost:

  • Accommodations at the Hotel Campo Marzio, Vicenza
  • Breakfast daily, four lunches and one dinner
  • Coffee or tea included with each lunch and dinner
  • Expert local guides for sight-seeing as outlined in the itinerary
  • Services of a full-time tour manager on tour
  • Land transaportation by private coach
  • Entrance fees for all included visits
  • Complete pre-departure documentation and materials

*The deposit is $750 double occupancy, $1000 single occupancy. Final payment will be invoiced by Century Travel and is due on May 18, 2016.

TRIP ITINERARY

Sunday, 18 September – Arrive Venice, Transfer and Tour

  • 11:00 a.m. Meet at the Venice airport and transfer by private coach to Vicenza (1 hour drive)
  • 12:30 p.m. Estimated arrival at Hotel Campo Marzio
  • 3:00 p.m. Tour of Vicenza with a local guide including Teatro Olimpico and Palazzo Porto Barbaran

Monday, 19 September – Rotunda, Godi, Thiene

  • 9:00 a.m. Depart hotel for a private visit at the Rotonda
  • 11:00 a.m. Tour of villa Godi
  • 12:30p.m. Arrival at the villa Porto Colleoni Thiene for private lunch and visit (including private archives and the possibility to see a first edition of Palladio's masterwork, Four Books on Architecture (Venice, 1570)
  • 4:30 p.m. Return to the hotel
  • Dinner on own

Tuesday, 20 September – Barbaro, Emo, Marcello

  • 9:00 a.m. Depart hotel
  • 10:00 a.m. Visit villa Barbaro
  • 11:30 a.m. Visit villa Emo
  • 1:00 p.m. Private lunch and tour villa Marcello
  • 4:15 p.m. Return to the hotel
  • Dinner on own

Wednesday, 21 September – Pisani, Pojana, Schio

  • 9:00 a.m. Depart hotel
  • 10:00 a.m. Visit villa Pisani
  • 11:20 a.m. Visit villa Pojana
  • 1:00 p.m. Private lunch and visit to villa da Schio
  • 4:15 p.m. Return to the hotel
  • Dinner on own

Thursday, 22 September – Caldogno, Malcontenta, Cornaro

  • 9:00 a.m. Depart hotel
  • 9:30 a.m. Visit villa di Caldogno
  • 11:30 a.m. Visit villa la Malcontenta
  • 1:00 p.m. Picnic and visit villa Cornaro
  • 4:30 p.m. Return to the hotel
  • Farewell dinner in a private villa

Friday, 23 September – Verona

  • Tour Marostica and Bassano or Verona (yet to be finalized)

Saturday, 24 September - Flights to US or continue your stay*
