Designed by architect Henri Jova, the house was built in 1974 for its current owner, Peter Abreu, and is nestled on 11 acres. FRIDAY, APRIL 20
Canton Street and Beyond
Noon to 5:00 p.m.

Start the weekend with registration at Roswell’s Cultural Arts Center. On nearby Canton Street, Ramblers will tour graceful homes and quaint cottages.  A little further out, visit several Victorian farmhouses, including one under restoration.  A few miles farther is the West Home, a 23-acre complex including historic structures clustered around the main house, a dogtrot built from plans and materials that date to the 1820s.

The Georgia Trust 35th Annual Preservation Awards
5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Friday evening’s activities will begin with the 35th Annual Preservation Awards at Roswell's City Hall, where we will celebrate the state's top preservationists and projects. The ceremony will be followed by cocktails and dinner at Roswell Mill.

Cocktails and Dinner at Roswell Mill
6:30 p.m.

Friday evening’s cocktails and dinner will be held at Ivy Hall, part of the rehabilitated Roswell Mill complex that overlooks Vickery Creek. The complex dates back to the mid 1830s, when Roswell King came to the area and established a manufacturing center.

SATURDAY, APRIL 21
The Georgia Trust Annual Meeting & Introduction to Roswell: Roswell City Hall
9:00 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The day will begin with breakfast and registration, followed by the Trust’s Annual Meeting, which includes an update on the State of Preservation in Georgia. The Introduction to Roswell features an insider’s scoop on local history and preservation efforts.  For lunch, Ramblers will enjoy a complimentary meal from their choice of many of the enticing eateries on Canton Street.

Saturday Afternoon Ramble: Mimosa Boulevard District
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Ramblers will enjoy exploring some of Roswell’s finest antebellum homes and house museums, including a garden tour, as well as a historic church and its cemetery.  All are located close to the picturesque downtown square.

Saturday Evening: Cocktails and Dinner at Barrington Hall
6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Enjoy local barbeque al fresco on the grounds of Barrington Hall (ca. 1842), a winner of The Georgia Trust’s 2003 Excellence in Restoration Award.  Built by Roswell co-founder Barrington King, this Greek Revival home remained in family hands until 2002.

Ring of Fire: The Johnny Cash Musical Show
8:00 p.m.
The Georgia Ensemble Theatre presents Ring of Fire: The Johnny Cash Musical Show, at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center. Special ticket price of $20.00 per person available on a limited basis. Please call the box office at 770.641.1260 to purchase tickets.

The Roswell Ghost Tour
8:30 p.m.
Grand Greek revival mansions and humble mill worker's apartments are some of the haunted sites you'll see on this mile of easy walking. Meet at the bandstand in the middle of the downtown square, 610 Atlanta Street. $10 per person.

SUNDAY, APRIL 22
Sunday Brunch: Smith Plantation

9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Sunday’s brunch will be held at the gracious Smith Plantation (ca. 1845), which exemplifies the life of an affluent farm family in early Roswell.  Fully furnished in Smith Family pieces, the main house features a parson’s room and the complex includes 10 original outbuildings, including slave quarters and a springhouse.

Sunday Ramble: Mill Life
11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Roswell’s prosperity centered around the production of cotton and cotton mills. Ramblers will explore the ruins of mill structures along Vickery Creek, the apartments and cottages of those who worked in them, a mill manager’s home, and an 1840s plantation farmhouse.  Nearby is Founders Cemetery (1840-60), which contains 23 marked graves of some first families of Roswell and their slaves.
