Arabia Mountain Expedition Bike Tour Challenge
SUNDAY, November 18, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (end time is approximate)
Experience the scenic beauty, natural wonders, quarry ruins and historic farmsteads of the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area through a guided bike tour. This beautiful 24 mile ride begins in downtown Lithonia and follows modern paved hike-bike trails designed and constructed by the PATH Foundation. Along the way, bikers will see sites not included on Saturday’s Expedition and will learn how the Arabia Mountain Heritage Alliance is fostering preservation and conservation in this designated National Heritage Area - one of only 49 such areas in the United States.
This tour is coordinated by the Arabia Mountain Heritage Area Alliance, a model of public-private partnership that works closely with county, city and community resources to conserve a space of exceptional beauty and history. The Arabia Mountain National Heritage area has been awarded the inaugural “Great Place” designation in the Atlanta Regional Commission’s 2011 Development of Excellence awards.
Cost: $30 for bike tour, $55 for both Saturday and Sunday registration (does not include lunch)
Requirements: Bike in good condition with multiple gears and a helmet
