Rome's landmark Clocktower, built c. 1872

The Georgia Trust invites you to experience the history and hospitality of Georgia’s Rome. Your adventure begins Friday on bustling Broad Street, Rome’s historic downtown commercial area. That night you’ll dine in a ballroom at the restored Forrest Place downtown.

Saturday you’ll tour the “Between the Rivers” district, a downtown residential area which lies between the Etowah, Oostanaula and Coosa rivers and dates back to Rome’s founding in 1834. Several National Register sites, Victorian homes and churches, Rome’s landmark Clocktower, the Capitoline Wolf, and loft homes above restored store fronts are all part of these interesting tours. Saturday’s dinner is on the grounds of the Colonial Heights Plantation, located near picturesque Cave Spring.

On Sunday, enjoy brunch at beautiful Berry College, the largest college campus in the United States, before exploring the grounds and learning more about Martha Berry and her school.

Also plan to attend The Georgia Trust's 33rd Annual Preservation Awards, where awards will be presented to top projects in the state.
