Hay Day Family Festivals:
Hay Day is a free community festival offering families from diverse backgrounds a time to come together to celebrate and learn about their community’s history.

Twice a year in September and April, Hay House throws open its doors and grounds for fun and interesting educational activities designed to engage a diverse audience in the exploration of the history of their community. Hay Day gives Middle Georgia families the chance to interact with a national historic site in a way that helps them relate it to their own personal experience. In the spring the event focuses on a theme related to the history or collections of Hay House; in the fall it centers on a particular time period. Each one-day event is built around hands-on experiences including music, games, dance, crafts, children’s educational activities and presentations by people with related expertise. The emphasis is on interaction between guests and the past as well as between parents and children.

Past events have focused on 1864 (Civil War period), 1929 (Roaring 20s), family heritage from different cultural backgrounds, The European Grand Tour and “Hay Day 1905 - A New Beginning” – a snapshot of life in the U.S. and Georgia around the 1900s.
