Saturday, October 23
12 – 4:30 p.m.
Check-in and Orientation
at the Dublin Theatre

Come by and pick up your program at the historic Dublin Theatre, 100 Church Street. Built in 1934 as a movie theatre, it served as the favorite place for thousands of Laurens County residents for four decades. The Dublin Theatre, formerly the Martin Theatre, now serves as a performing arts center, offering a large number of theatrical performances and productions throughout the year. Join local officials and historians as they introduce Trust members to the history that turned a violent and lawless community into one of the fastest growing, most prosperous and cultivated cities in Georgia during the dawn of the twentieth century.
Orientation begins at 1 p.m.
2 – 5 p.m.
Dublin City Ramble
Experience the “Golden Era” of Dublin as you explore its historic Main Street and visit the First National Bank Building known as the “Dublin Skyscraper,” completed in 1913 and still known as the tallest building between Macon and Savannah; the Carnegie Library, built in 1904 and now the home of the Laurens County Historical Society, who saved the building from destruction in 1967; the grand homes of Bellevue Avenue including the J.H. Beacham Home, built in 1906 by a local Dublin businessman to be an exact replica of their previous home which they had sold when they moved to Mississippi, and which the new owners refused to sell back; and the First African Baptist Church, Dublin’s first church for former slaves established in 1867, with the church built in 1914.
5:30 – 6:30 p.m.
New Member First Time Rambler Reception at the Page House
New Members and First-Time Ramblers are welcome to socialize with Georgia Trust Board members and staff at a special reception at the Page House, located at 711 Bellevue Avenue. This classic 11-room house was built in 1903 and was the only home in this area of the state to feature a ballroom. Remodeled in 1998, the Page House currently serves as a bed and breakfast.
6:30 – 9:30 p.m.
Cocktails and Dinner at the Lovett House
Enjoy cocktails and dinner at the Lovett House, located on Bellevue Avenue. Known as the “crown jewel” of Bellevue Avenue, this three story colonial house was built in 1902 by J.D. Smith at a cost of $13,500. The house has been home to local railroad barons, bank presidents, and even served as a hospital at one time.

Learn about some of the founding fathers of Dublin and Laurens County while enjoying the inherent beauty of this sacred place.
