Preservation Communications Coordinator (Posted March 24, 2017)

Assists in the Trust's Preservation Assistance, Preservation Awards and Places in Peril programs, while working with the programs of Endangered Properties and Revolving Fund Education in conjunction with the Director of Preservation and Communications Director. The Coordinator must be well organized, responsible, self-disciplined, personable and possess graphic design and desktop publishing skills.

Reports to: Senior Director of Communications and Preservation Director

Primary Responsibilities:

Preservation Services

  • Coordinate preservation-related inquiries by providing information and assistance via phone and mail and coordinate requests for assistance to appropriate department staff. Encourage the registration of new Trust members.
  • Work with the Director to develop and implement a policy for the Preservation Assistance program that escalates the level of assistance offered through the Trust and related state agencies.
  • Assist with the Preservation Awards program including encouraging nominations, reviewing applications and preparing them for council review, notifying award winners and coordinating their attendance, preparation of award certificates and preparing the award presentation at the awards ceremony.
  • Answer basic questions about the Places in Peril program. Assist in investigating and analyzing nominations.
  • Respond to initial requests for Revolving Fund information and supports the Director and other preservation staff in developing educational programs associated with it and preparing property listing and materials for print and website listings.

Communications

  • Work with the communications department to provide information for preservation communications, content creation, press releases, web and the Rambler.
  • Build and maintain media lists, organize news clippings and office files, and other assorted communications projects.
  • Process and mail J. Neel Reid, Architect book orders.

Education Programs

  • Respond to public inquiries about preservation related issues.
  • Seek out, promote, and/or create public education opportunities related to preservation.
  • Coordinate with Task Forces to review applications, notify winners, and coordinate presentations for the annual awards ceremony.

Other Duties

  • Assist the Director in developing educational meetings for Georgia Preservation Non-Profits.
  • Work with the President and CEO for preparation of educational programs, PowerPoint presentations, correspondence and other documents.
  • Work with staff to expand the Inherit Georgia program.

Qualifications:
The Coordinator should have a working knowledge of preservation practices and communications. Bachelors degree required. Masters preferred. Should have excellent written and oral communications skills and possess graphic design and desktop publishing skills. ArcGIS or similar mapping experience and photography/photo editing skills are a plus.
