Street Design Assistant

Street Assistance Program, Preservation Department
Length:
Two interns are needed for Winter (January-March)
and a design team of 3-4 interns for Summer (June-August) for 10-11 weeks
each (approximately 200 hours per intern).

Evan Thibeault, Main Street Design Assistance Manager
Qualifications:
A
design/art background is preferred; some drafting
and freehand drawing experience necessary.
Applicants should have interest in or be pursuing a
degree in historic preservation, architectural
history, city & urban planning or related
fields. Intern should be ready to learn basic
computer illustration and photo-manipulation
(Photoshop) software (experience preferred).
Position:
The
intern will be a technical assistant to the staff
design manager. Primary job responsibilities will
be the production of design presentation drawings
and specifications for facades of downtown
commercial buildings in designated Main Street cities
throughout Georgia. Associated duties will include
answering information requests and researching
architectural product information. The position will
provide exposure to a variety of professionals in
preservation and related fields. Includes on-site
visits with building owners in the field.
All internships offer the
opportunity for school credit. For school credit,
paperwork, professor contact, and informing the
Design Manager of need for special projects lies with the student to
instigate the process. The Georgia Trust provides
free and ample parking.
