The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation's Bequest Language

Bequests are gifts made through a will. A bequest can be a specific dollar amount, a percentage of your estate or the remainder of your estate. These gifts have no immediate impact on your current lifestyle.

Please consider a bequest for The Georgia Trust, to leave a legacy for Georgia's historic places.

Listed below are samples of bequest language for the most common types of bequests. Every estate plan is different, so please share this information with your estate planner to determine which one works best for you.

Specific Gift Language

A specific bequest names The Georgia Trust as a beneficiary of a specific amount, specific percentage of your estate, or specific property that you designate.

I give, devise and bequeath to the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, Inc., a non-profit corporation duly existing under the laws of the State of Georgia and located in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, in the United States [$___________] or [___% of my estate] or [an asset], to be used for its unrestricted use and purpose (or for the support of a specific program).

Residual Gift Language

A residual bequest is a gift made to The Georgia Trust after all other bequests, debts, and taxes are paid.

I give, devise and bequeath to the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation, Inc., a non-profit corporation duly existing under the laws of the State of Georgia and located in Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, in the United States [all or ___%] of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, to be used for its unrestricted use and purpose (or for the support of a specific program).

Contingent Bequest Language

A contingent bequest is a gift that names The Georgia Trust a beneficiary in the event that one of your specific bequests cannot be fulfilled.

If [insert name of primary beneficiary] is not living at the time of my demise I give, devise and bequeath to the Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation in the United States, the sum of $____ [or all or a specific percentage of the residue of my estate] to be used for its general support (or for the support of a specific program).
